If you have experienced, witnessed or been affected by inappropriate behaviour, support is available. You may wish to talk to someone about what has happened, understand your options, or discuss whether you want to make a report. There is no right or wrong way to respond.

Choose the help you need

  • Get support: speak to someone about what has happened and how it is affecting you. Explore the support options below.
  • Understand your reporting options: ask a manager, senior colleague or HR Business Partner about the available processes and what each may involve.
  • Get urgent help: if you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 and contact campus security if needed.

Support available to staff

You may wish to speak with:

  • Your line manager, if you feel comfortable doing so.
  • A senior colleague in your department, faculty or directorate, such as your department manager, Associate Director or Director.
  • Your HR Business Partner, for guidance on available support and relevant processes.
  • A practitioner from King’s Staff Mental Health Training & Guidance team, who can provide confidential one-to-one support and guidance.
  • A member of King’s Chaplaincy, for confidential pastoral support, whatever your faith, belief or background.
  • Your local  trade union representative, for independent advice and representation, if you are a member of a trade union.
  • An adviser from King's Employee Assistance Programme, for free, confidential support.
  • A trusted colleague, who can listen and help you consider your next steps.

If you are both a student and a staff member, for example, if you are a postgraduate research student who also teaches, you may also be able to access student support.
